There is an app for almost everything these days. Uber, Venmo, Spotify, Tinder…we all have our favorite apps and use them on a consistent basis. But, how much attention are you paying to the apps that make life easier, simpler, healthier, or safer?
At Bowman Pointe, we are all about making your life in Little Rock the best in can be. In and out of your apartment, there are seven totally free apps we think you should download right now to take away some unnecessary stress. Swipe up to see them all!
#1: Everything App
Have you ever heard of IFTTT? It stands for “If This, Then That.” We call this app the “everything” app because it can do just about anything you can think of.
To sum it up in one sentence: you can use IFTTT to make many things do other things for you whenever another thing happens. There’s a cause and an effect, a trigger and a release. Every app or device you use can be signed in as a “service” that you can connect to an action, which creates an “Applet.”
For example, you could set up an Applet to backup new photos you post to Instagram in a folder on your Google Drive. Or, have your Alexa remind you when you have a reminder set on your phone or an appointment on your calendar. Or, get an email every time there is rain in the forecast.
If you can think of a task, IFTTT can probably take care of it for you.
#2: Dog Care App
If you are a pet owner, your pet is probably your best friend. When you are away from home for a long period, all you do is worry about them, right?
To make your life a little easier (and feel less guilty), you should check out the Rover app. It helps you find local people to walk your dog, board your dog, play with your dog, and more while you are away from home.
It’s free to download, and you only pay after you schedule a service with one of the users (or, “sitters”). You can compare prices associated with each sitter’s services and choose who you want to book.
Beyond finding a great sitter, Rover also gives you detailed updates while your dog is under a sitter’s care. It tells you where they go and how long they are there, plus you can communicate with the sitter the entire time. Then, the app automatically pays them two days later. Simple and easy!
#3: Grocery Store Apps
All the major grocery stores in our area have apps that make life easier, so we could not highlight just one. Whether you prefer Kroger or Walmart, an app exists to streamline your grocery shopping experience so you save time and avoid the store. That gives you more time to grill up something tasty or make your favorite seasonal recipes.
Kroger’s Clicklist service allows you to order your groceries online, select a pick-up time, and have an in-store associate gather your items for you. You can also load digital Kroger coupons into your account and apply them to your order!
Not to be outdone, the Walmart app does the same thing. Anything your local Walmart sells, you can order and pay for online and pick up when you have time.
If you want your groceries to come to you, there is always the Amazon app. All the products Amazon offers—from cereal and paper towels to batteries and cleaning supplies—are available to you order 24/7. You can even set up standing orders that ship out according to your schedule.
Plus, now that Amazon owns Whole Foods, Amazon Prime members can download the Whole Foods app and get special savings when you shop in store. We are keeping our fingers crossed they will develop a new app soon to bring organic groceries to the masses.
#4: Budgeting App
For first-time renters and beyond, we always recommend setting and sticking to a budget. Nothing will make life easier than knowing your finances are taking care of themselves. To aid you in this effort, we could not recommend an app more highly that Mint.
Mint helps you track all your spending in one place, stay on top of your bills, and discover new ways to save. You can connect the app to your checking account, savings account, investment accounts, loan providers, and more. Then, you can see all the bills in one place, set aside a budget for each expense, and get reminders when it’s time to pay them.
As you develop your financial profile, the app gives you tips and advice on ways to maximize your money. It’s free to you because banks, credit card companies, and other financial institutions are the ones paying to advertise their services through the Mint app.
#5: Food Delivery Apps
So many food delivery apps have made their way to Little Rock over the last few years. They all offer the same service, so which one will make your life easiest? Well, it all depends on what you are craving!
Between BiteSquad, Waitr, GrubHub, Uber Eats, and DoorDash, you can find your favorite restaurants and have your favorite meal delivered to your door. Fees vary, but essentially, the concept is the same. Whether you download one or all of them, these apps will make your life so much easier.
When you are ready to mix things up, may we recommend checking out some new restaurants in Little Rock?
#6: Exercise App
We know living a healthy lifestyle is important to you. That’s why Bowman Pointe offers so many fitness amenities like our virtual fitness studio and 24-hour gym.
If you have ever utilized our virtual fitness studio, you know that you have free access to tons of on-demand workout classes. But did you know you can set up your own account and make the system work specifically for you?
The system we use is called Wellbeats and they have a free app you should download right now. The app allows you to take a fitness test, set fitness goals, build your class lists, and track your progress. Then, when you arrive at the facility to work out, you just log-in through the dashboard and press play on the classes you pre-selected.
To set up your account, we have a set of instructions specifically for Bowman Pointe residents. Just contact the front office if you missed our email back in July!
#7: Security App
Last, but not least, we have one app to recommend that will make your life not only easier, but safer. Included in your apartment’s utility package, every Bowman Pointe resident has a monitored alarm system. If you haven’t already, you should download the Protection1 app that allows you to control your alarm system from anywhere.
Via the app, you can arm and disarm your system while you’re on the go and never worry about forgetting to do so while you were home. You can also set up security alerts for when your windows and doors are opened at any time.
To get the app, you should have received an email with instructions within 30 days of your move-in. After that time, the unique access link becomes invalid. If you need us to re-send you your link, just let us know.
Did we miss one of your favorite apps? Tell us about it in the comments! We would love to share information about all the best apps that make life easier for you.
