Welcome to the Natural State! As the capital city of Arkansas, Little Rock is full of people just like you that love exploring and staying active. There are so many things to do in Little Rock, both indoors and outdoors, to keep you busy near Bowman Pointe!

  1. Check Out the Climbing Center

The Little Rock Climbing Center is just down the street from Bowman Pointe, and our residents love it! No matter your level of experience, you will find a fun spot to climb indoors. For beginners, they offer a quick 15-minute belay safety lesson so you can learn how to use the equipment. From there, you are free to explore. More experienced climbers are welcome to bring their own harness, shoes, and chalk. We love this place because they’re open late (until 10 pm on weeknights and Saturdays) and they change up the climbing walls often.

  1. Hike a Trail

Arkansas is seriously a hiker’s paradise. One of our favorite local spots is Pinnacle Mountain, located in Pinnacle Mountain State Park. To hike the mountain (which is just over 1,000 feet), there are several trails to choose from, depending on how strenuous and difficult you want the ascent to be. If you want to go outside of the city, perhaps on a fun weekend or day trip, check out Petit Jean State Park, Mount Magazine State Park, or Hot Springs National Park.

  1. Grab a Bike

Cycling in Little Rock is growing! The most popular spot for biking in Little Rock is definitely the Arkansas River Trail System, which you could easily use to bike from Two Rivers Park all the way downtown to the Clinton Bridge in an afternoon. A bike sharing program was also approved in May of 2017 for Little Rock and North Little Rock, so you can expect to see city docking stations and more bike lanes pop up in 2018!

  1. Dance the Night Away

If you’re looking for less intense things to do in Little Rock, we highly recommend trying a salsa class with Little Rock Salsa. Every week, the instructors cover basic and intermediate salsa, cha cha, tango, merengue, and more. Plus, after the class, the room opens up to the public so you can mix and mingle while trying out your new dance moves!

  1. Kayak on the River

Did you know that you can rent a kayak and take it down the Arkansas River whenever you want? It’s true! Just rent one at Pinnacle Mountain State Park in Little Rock! If you have your own kayak, you can easily jump on the river from the dock at Two Rivers Park off Cantrell Road. Want to enjoy a longer trip? You cannot beat a kayaking adventure on the Buffalo River, just a few hours north of Little Rock.

  1. Run, Run, Run

Runners, all you have to do is find a trail and go. The Arkansas River Trail is actually a shared trail, so you can bike it or run it. Little Rock also has plenty of neighborhood and city parks you can use for running and jogging.

  1. Find a Class

Beyond the average yoga or spin class, Little Rock offers so many other things to do if you want to try a new activity. Check out Pure Barre on Cantrell Road in the Pleasant Ridge Shopping Center or Arkansas Circus Arts on Cumberland Street to break out of your normal fitness routine.

  1. Join a Team

Little Rock has local adult leagues for pretty much every sport. Whether you want to find a league just for fun or for serious competition, you can join a team playing baseball, softball, volleyball, tennis, soccer, kickball…you name it! If you’re an active athlete, there’s no reason for you to be bored in Little Rock.

  1. Use Your Amenities

At Bowman Pointe, we know staying active is important to you and our amenities reflect that. Remember that you can use the fitness center 24 hours a day, seven days a week, so take advantage of it! Don’t forget about the virtual fitness room, too. Any time you want to start a workout or class, just go up to the virtual fitness room and do it!
