Top Little Rock Spots Where You Can Practice Your Favorite Summer Sports
07.30.2021 |
The Summer Olympics are happening right now, and they got us thinking of all the fun summer sports we would love to go play. Golf, volleyball, tennis…aren’t you inspired to get out and be active right now?
Look no further – Bowman Pointe to the rescue!
We found all the places you can play some of your favorite recreational sports around Little Rock. Whether you pick up an old passion or acquire a new hobby, we hope you have go have some fun!
Baseball & Softball
Yes, we know baseball and softball are both team sports and you should join a local league to play them. But, before you get there, it always helps to step up to the plate and take some practice swings!
If you want to go hit some balls, check out these batting cages near our luxury apartment community:
- Big Rock Mini Golf & Fun Park – 11411 Baseline Road, Little Rock
- D-Bat – 4209 S. Shackleford Road, Suite A, Little Rock
Kayaking
The kind of kayaking Little Rock has to offer is more relaxing and less rapid than you see during the competitions on TV. We are in “The Natural State,” after all, so you should take every opportunity to slow down and enjoy the scenery!
Rock Town River Outfitters has an awesome set-up you should check out at River Mountain Park off the Little Maumelle River. They offer kayak rentals for independent and experienced kayakers, or you can book a fun kayak tour with one of their river guides.
Mountain Biking
Mountain biking is big in Arkansas, and there are quite a few mountain bike trails right here in the Little Rock metro area that could allow you to challenge your skills and get an adrenaline rush!
Here are a few popular parks with particularly good trails to explore:
- Burns Park Trails – North Little Rock
- Pinnacle Mountain Monument Trails – Little Rock
- Rattlesnake Ridge Trails – Little Rock
Skateboarding
How cool is it that skateboarding is in the Olympics this year?
What’s even cooler is that you can try to channel your inner Tony Hawk (or shall we say Rayssa Leal?) at a local skate park right here in Little Rock:
- Kanis Park – 820 South Rodney Parham Road, Little Rock
- Riverview Skateboarding Park – 2800 River Road, North Little Rock
Tennis
One of the best parts about tennis is that you only need one other person to play it! Grab a friend, a racket, and some balls and make plans to visit one of these nice tennis courts available nearby:
- Allsopp Park - 3700 Cedar Hill Road, Little Rock
- Burns Park Tennis Center – 4000 Joe Poch Road, North Little Rock (reservations required)
- Rebsamen Tennis Center – 1501 Leisure Place, Little Rock (reservations required)
Don’t have someone to play with? Still want to learn how to play? The USTA has a local Tennis Apprentice program running year-round that offers four weeks of lessons, coaching, and a racket for just $80!
Volleyball
Everyone has that group of friends that talks about getting together to play something, but they never really figure out what to play or where to go. Step up, become the leader, and suggest volleyball!
There are three great volleyball courts we can recommend, and one of them is right down the road from our luxury apartment community:
- Murray Park – Rebsamen Park Road, Little Rock (grass and sand)
- Sonic – Colonel Glenn Road, Little Rock (sand)
Golf
Even if you’re not a member at a country club or a private golf course, there are still plenty of beautiful golf courses you can visit in the Little Rock metro area.
These three all require tee time reservations, so contact them ahead of time to schedule your day on the greens:
- Burns Park – 30 Championship Drive, North Little Rock
- First Tee – 1 First Tee Way, Little Rock
- Rebsamen – 3400 Rebsamen Park Road, Little Rock
For a beginner, we realize a full round of 18 holes might sound a bit too intimidating. So, why don’t you start small and make a visit to our putting green? Pretty soon, you will even be able to play golf virtually with the sports simulator coming in our new building!
We hope you enjoyed this look at some of the best cages, courts, courses, parks, rivers, and trails around Little Rock!
