Keeping Your Apartment Cool During Summertime
08.01.2022 |
Living in an apartment can have its perks. One of them is maintenance. While we don't expect you to maintain your building's A/C, we have some helpful tips to keep your A/C running efficiently. Because we all know Arkansas heat can be hot, and if you aren't taking the proper precautions, your cool summer can become a bummer summer.
- First, maintain the desired temperature rather than constantly readjusting the thermostat. If you turn your thermostat off during the day, your AC unit will not be able to catch up in the evening.
- Adjust curtains and blinds as an insulator. Keeping them closed, this additional insulating layer will help keep the apartment cool while the AC is not in use.
- Avoid using appliances that create a lot of heat like the oven and dryer in the hottest hours of the day.
- Leaving on your ceiling fan helps with air circulation and to keep the home cool. If space is around 80 degrees, using the fan will help it feel closer to 76 degrees. They help your AC to do its job of keeping you comfortable.
- Keep obstacles from blocking the return air grill located in your living room.
- Smoke of any kind, including candles and cigarettes, will clog the filter and prevent the air from circulating, causing your AC unit not to work correctly. Please remember our homes and common areas are smoke-free!
- Our maintenance team may temporarily install a portable AC unit in bad weather or extreme circumstances.
If you think your A/C is not cooling, do not wait to call in a maintenance request. Enter a request as soon as you notice it is not working properly during business hours or by calling the office number and following the prompts after hours.
Stay cool, Residents!
