Ever heard the phrase, “You have to spend money to make money?” It’s true here at Bowman Pointe, where our energy-efficient apartments save you money in the long-run despite the serious-seeming sticker price.
One of the things we pride ourselves on here at Bowman Pointe is the dedication we take in designing each detail in our apartments and making most effective use of every space.
That’s why our luxury apartment floor plans are outfitted with stainless steel appliances, granite counters, custom hardwood cabinetry, and chrome light fixtures featuring energy-efficient light bulbs. We even cover the cost of your utilities!
But a few light bulbs aren’t the only qualities that make our apartments energy efficient. Read on to find out how you can use less energy and save more money from every angle here at Bowman Pointe.
Energy-Efficient Apartment Buildings
Our energy-efficient apartments are housed within buildings that are themselves much more energy-efficient than others around West Little Rock. How, you ask? It comes down to the way they were built and the types of windows they hold.
Our apartment buildings are garden-style in that they are situated around gorgeous courtyards, feature outdoor patios or balconies, and are under four stories tall.
Often, garden-style apartments in West Little Rock are open to the elements. Your front door opens directly to the environment to the outside.
But, unlike most apartment communities in Little Rock, the apartment buildings at Bowman Pointe have interior-facing hallways.
This means that the air conditioning inside your apartment isn’t escaping into an outdoor hallway or breezeway. The hallways themselves are air-conditioned!
The air inside stays cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter, which means you will spend less time and money heating and cooling your apartment.
Our beautiful apartment buildings also feature energy-efficient picture windows filled with non-toxic argon gas and coated with a low-e glaze.
Argon gas is used in energy-efficient windows to create thermal insulation and reduce condensation. Each pane has sealed spaces of argon in between two or three layers of glass to reduce the transfer of heat.
Then, the windows’ low-e (or low-emissivity) glaze coating (according to the U.S. Office of Energy Efficiency & Renewable Energy) can “reduce energy loss by as much as 30% to 50%.”
This means most of the energy generated in your apartment stays in your apartment and does not go out the window and into the environment. Money stays in your pocket!
Every kitchen at Bowman Pointe is equipped with stunning stainless-steel appliances, some of which are ENERGY STAR® certified products. If you see an appliance with this certification, it means it has been independently qualified by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) as a consumer product that saves you money and helps protect the environment.
Take, for example, the side-by-side GE® refrigerators utilized in our energy-efficient apartments.
The EPA estimates that the yearly energy costs of powering similar models are between $81 and $98. Our refrigerators are estimated at $74 a year, which saves you at least $7.
How do they do it? Well, these GE® refrigerators simply consume less energy. According to the EPA, this model uses 616 kWh per year where the US Federal standard is 675 kWh per year.
Bonus: the refrigerators we use also have a water and ice dispenser. Pretty awesome, right?
Another way we save you money here at Bowman Pointe is with energy-efficient apartment lighting.
In the recessed lighting, bathroom lighting, and ceiling fans you will find in our luxury apartment homes, we use EcoSmart light bulbs.
Each bulb uses 75% less energy than the 60-Watt incandescent bulbs more commonly used in most apartments, saving you up to $220 in energy costs over the course of each bulb’s lifetime.
If one of these light bulbs goes out, we recommend you replace it with the same energy-efficient bulb to continue saving money.
Saving Money on Utility Bills
Saving money on the energy-efficient apartments at Bowman Pointe comes full circle with our convenient utility package.
In addition to your rent, you will pay $70, $80, or $90 a month (for one, two, or three bedrooms, respectively) for a utility package. This package covers the cost of Fidelity cable, Internet, water, sewage, trash, pest control, and a 24-hour monitored alarm system.
When you consider that the cheapest Fidelity cable and Internet package alone costs around $83 a month, you can start to see how our utility package is well worth it. Altogether, it saves you at least $200-300 a month.
The only thing you pay separately each month is electricity through Entergy Arkansas, and there are ways to control that cost.
Energy Conservation Tips
Since you’re reading a blog about energy-efficient apartments, we can safely assume saving money is important to you. So, you should know it pays to be mindful of how much electricity you’re using every day.
Because the only utility bill you pay separately on your apartment is your electricity bill, we do happily provide every resident some energy conservation tips.
Here are a few tips you can find in your Resident Handbook:
- Leave your blinds closed in the summer and open in the winter.
- Unplug small appliances like your toaster and coffee maker when you’re not using them.
- Unplug your devices and chargers when you’re not using them.
- Wash your clothes in a full load using cold water.
- Turn overhead lights and ceiling fans off when you leave a room.
- On your thermostat, decide on a desired temperature and leave the thermostat at that temperature rather than adjusting up and down before you leave and after you come home.
Electricity can be costly, but our energy-efficient apartments were designed to reduce your expenses and your impact on the environment.
While the average residential electricity bill in Arkansas is $105.64 per month, you can expect to pay $50-90 on average here at Bowman Pointe. It all depends on your apartment size and consumption habits.
