I love to eat.
Admit it, though, so do you!
One of the greatest things about living in Little Rock is partaking in the capital city’s emerging food scene. A town where chain restaurants once lined every street corner and seemed to be one your only dinner options, we’re now seeing more and more locally-owned eateries joining the landscape near our West Little Rock location.
You may have just moved to the area, so we thought about helping you out in the food department. There will be plenty of “Netflix and chill” nights, but there will also be nights that you will want to go out and eat.
And while dinner at a chain restaurant can be fast and convenient, there’s nothing quite like eating locally. With fresh ingredients, familiar faces, and top-notch service, it’s going to be hard not to fall in love with at least one of our top five locally-owned eateries!
Local Lime – Taco’s and Tequila
(17809 Chenal Pkwy F-105, Little Rock, AR 72223)
Opening its doors at the Promenade at Chenal in the fall of 2012, Local Lime focus on California-style street tacos and noteworthy cocktails. With a menu that features various salsa options, bite size tacos, delicious nachos and to-die-for margaritas, it’s no wonder they’re always packed.
Our Favorite Dish: The Caribbean Beer-Battered Fried Shrimp Taco Plate with a House Margarita.
Big Orange – Burgers, Salads and Shakes
(17809 Chenal Pkwy G-101, Little Rock, AR 72223)
With the same owners as Local Lime, it’s no wonder Big Orange made our list. The focus of this Little Rock eatery in one word is “local.” Their signature buns are made and delivered daily by Arkansas Fresh Bakery in Benton and they also feature locally grown ingredients, which no doubt make their burgers one of the best in the state.
Our Favorite Dish: The Hickory Smoke Burger, House Fries and the Arkansas Onyx Coffee Shake.
The Pantry – European Specialties
(11401 N Rodney Parham Rd, Little Rock, AR 72212)
This fantastic restaurant is both delicious and eye-catching. Being one of Little Rock’s only restaurants to feature Czech and German classics as well as traditional American bites, you’re bound to find something you love on the menu.
Our Favorite Dish: Lasagna Al Forno which features house made pasta, béchamel, bolognese and parmesan cheese.
The Main Cheese – American Comfort
(14524 Cantrell Rd, Little Rock, AR 72223)
As the newest restaurant on our list, The Main Cheese is certainly making a name for itself in West Little Rock. The brainchild of husband and wife team Rich and Mary Jensen, this gourmet grilled cheese eatery was created as a quirky and fun restaurant that revolves around an American staple. With other options such as soups, salads and burgers it’s hard to order just one dish.
Our Favorite Dish: Float’n the Buffalo
Izzy’s – Family Favorites
(5601 Ranch Dr, Little Rock, AR 72223)
This family-owned restaurant has been a fixture in the West Little Rock community since 1985. With perhaps one of the largest vegetarian and gluten free menus available in Little Rock, each dish is made-to-order with fresh and delicious ingredients. Famous for their hot tamales, brick oven pizzas, and home-style cooking, Izzy’s is a restaurant you can’t help but love.
Our Favorite Dish: Beef Tamales and Black Bean Soup
